Over the past few years, Donald Trump has made huge pledges to Americans. To put it in more realistic terms, Trump has made empty promises to Americans. Whether it was to vet groups or Hurricane Sandy survivors, Trump’s attempt to actually be a decent human being and help people in need has failed tremendously.
Recently, the White House announced that Donald Trump, a so-called highly successful billionaire, pledged to donate $1 million of his own money to aid in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Whether or not Trump actually follows through with this promise, many have already formed speculations that the president is the least charitable person and is most-likely giving the state of Texas false hope.
Even Trump’s close friend and former colleague, Tony Schwartz, who is the co-author of President Trump’s bestselling book “Art of the Deal,” tweeted Friday saying he doesn’t believe Trump will follow through with his pledge because history has proven that the self-proclaimed billionaire makes promises he can’t keep:
Trump always pledges money for the sake of publicity, but he never makes good on these pledges, he never actually pays the donation. The fact that Hurricane Sandy survivors are still waiting on their 2012 pledge and Trump has yet to deliver speaks volumes. With every golfing trip to Mar-A-Lago moving 3 million taxpayer dollars to Trump profit centers, the least he could do is pay it forward. Sadly, having empathy for others is not a trait Trump is familiar with.
