I’ll just go ahead and say it: I was wrong. I always just assumed Sean Spicer was an idiot. I looked at his bumbling nature, his abject incompetence, his inability to use words in a sentence that belong together, and his historically failed tenure at White House Press Secretary, and I took it as a sign that the guy was a dummy and a loser. But now I know Sean Spicer is a genius.
The minute Donald Trump hired Anthony Scaramucci to be the new White House Communications Director, it prompted Sean Spicer’s immediate resignation. I took it as a sign, as most of us did, that Spicer simply didn’t like Scaramucci and didn’t want him as his boss. But the thing is, everything that we’re seeing about Scaramucci now, Spicer saw it all a week ago. He knew. We’re just figuring it out now, because we’re not that bright. It took the brilliant Sean Spicer all of twelve seconds.
Anthony Scaramucci has spent his first week on the job publicly asking the FBI to investigate his colleague Reince Priebus for supposedly leaking information about him that was already a matter of public record. Scaramucci has gone on live national television and sorta kinda maybe threatened to murder Priebus. Scaramucci has invented the term “front-stabber.” Scaramucci has acted so unhinged that he makes a deteriorating Donald Trump look tame in comparison. And that was before Scaramucci called up a reporter and let loose with the kind of rant that would get most people hauled away in a straitjacket.
Scaramucci called up Ryan Lizza of the New Yorker and asserted that “Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic.” Scaramucci declared “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock.” Scaramucci insisted that he wants to “kill” the leakers. Anthony Scaramucci is five minutes from throwing himself out a top floor window just to show everyone he means business. No wonder Sean Spicer high tailed it out of the White House the minute he heard Scaramucci was coming. Because he knew. That genius knew.
